Working From Home May Expose You to a DIFFERENT Kind of Virus

March 16, 2020

The Coronavirus has been declared by the World Health Organization as a pandemic, leading to a drastic increase in the number of employers suggesting their employees to work from home.

You are, or soon might be, one of them.

As working from home might protect you from exposure to the Coronavirus, you are exposed to a different kind of virus – a computer/mobile phone virus!

Over millions worldwide are to work remotely without access to a secure local network (like at the office), while using private devices with weaker security settings exposing sensitive work-related information to hackers. Some may even connect remotely to company servers opening a backdoor to the company’s networks.

Data encryption on personal devices can be difficult to enforce but is extremely crucial in order to keep your information safe from cyber threats.

Here are some tips for you to better secure your devices:

  1. Do not open emails and attachments from unknown or suspicious sources
  2. Ensure your internet connection is private and password secured

  3. Use a security-encrypted platform such as WhatsappTelegram or Signal to conduct business calls

  4. Delete all saved WiFi networks on your mobile device, except for the ones you trust and use on a regular basis (home, office, etc.)

Additionally, for those of you who prioritize information security, we suggest a simple and quick solution to install directly on your personal devices that will enable you to conduct your business remotely in the safest way possible (this solution is for individuals as well as corporates).
